Sculptra® Aesthetic

Would you like to turn back time 10-15 years? If so, you have come to the right place!

Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved treatment that stimulates collagen, gradually giving you a more youthful appearance. Unlike hyaluronic acids (HA) fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, Sculptra is a Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) treatment. PLLA is a collagen stimulator that works deep within the deep dermis to help revitalize collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.

Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for results that can last more than two years.

What is Sculptra® Aesthetic?

As we age, we lose collagen, which causes the skin to grow thinner and less elastic resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin. With Sculptra® Aesthetic, collagen begins to rebuild slowly, restoring fullness and smoothing out wrinkles and folds.

Replace

Injectable PLLA works to stimulate the growth of lost collagen.

Restore

Naturally stimulated collagen provides a foundation that gradually helps restore fullness by correcting shallow to deep folds and wrinkles.

Refine

This results in correcting wrinkles and folds that help provide a more refined appearance that can last more than two years.

How does Sculptra® Work?

Sculptra® is made with biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called Poly-L-Lactic Acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by our trained specialist. Sculptra® can take an average of 3 treatments performed every 4-6 weeks to achieve results. The number of treatments depends on how much correction you will require. It is custom-tailored to your specific needs.

What areas can Sculptra® injections be used?

Sculptra® is effective for treating moderate to deeper lines. It is used for these typical lines and creases that develop around the mouth:

  • Marionette lines (extending downward from the corners of your mouth)
  • Parentheses lines (framing both sides of your mouth)
  • Nasolabial folds (running from your nose down to the corners of your mouth, also called smile lines)
  • Chin wrinkles

Sculptra® is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, and re-volumize the cheeks and temples. It is not used to plump the lips. You may not receive the injections if you are immunocompromised, if you are allergic to the product, or if you are pregnant or nursing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently
Asked Questions
How Does It Work?

Once injected Sculptra® begins working with your body deep within the skin to help stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production over time, helping to reinforce the skin’s inner structure and increase facial fullness that has been lost due to aging.

What Is Sculptra® Made Of?

Sculptra® is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable substance that has been proven safe and has been used in medical products, including dissolvable sutures, for more than 30 years.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

On average, a series of 3 treatment sessions over the course of a few months may be needed. The number of injections at each session will vary depending on the degree of correction needed and the treatment plan determined by you and your specialist.

Why is Collagen Important?

Age-induced collagen loss weakens your skin’s inner structure, reducing its ability to maintain elasticity and moisture. This weakened inner structure can lead to lines, wrinkles, and folds and a loss of skin volume and support. Although HA dermal fillers address lines, wrinkles, and folds, they do not treat the root of the problem – collagen loss or skin structure. This is where Sculptra® comes in to help correct those deeper problems.

How Long Does Sculptra® Last?

Sculptra® Aesthetic lasts about two years, but some reports have shown it to last up to five years.

What to Expect After Treatment?

After treatment, you may notice some redness, mild swelling, bruising, or facial tenderness. You can minimize these effects by periodically applying an ice pack wrapped in a cloth 24 hours following your appointment.

You may resume your normal activities after your appointment, although we advise you to hold off on exercise and alcohol for the first 24 hours.

It is important to remember the Rule of 5 – massage the treated area for 5 minutes, five times per day for five days after treatment.

Are There Any Side Effects With Sculptra®?

Considered safe for qualifying patients (those without specific allergies or autoimmune diseases), the treatment may cause temporary swelling, redness, pain, and bruising at injection sites, as well as headaches during the 24-hour period following treatment.
